    We relied on Microsoft Azure from our launch back in 2015 mostly due to its capabilities and continued evolution in both database, infrastructure, and services.

    When our product team brainstormed where to adopt AI technology, one of the first things that came up was to make the life of data analysts easier by assisting them in designing dashboards, reports and building Data Flows.

    We also thought about the Business users consuming the reports and dashboards and wondered if they could benefit from a ChatGPT-like interface in the dashboard to interact with the data.

    Our Customer Advisory Group came up with some ideas in the area of data preparation and advanced data processing.

    During the discussions, we had with all stakeholders, some challenges with implementing these services arose. For example: data residency, data in transit, cost for us and our customers, and most of all, data security. By nature, OpenAI can be instructed to disregard any security measures we attempt to put in place.

    We started small by first integrating “Ask AI” throughout the application, wherever it was safe to start bringing value to our customers, and also where we could start learning from its use. The usage logs and customer feedback gave us a clear direction on how to refine it.
